Migrating from Google Analytics 4 to Tracabit
How to map GA4 event models and measurement IDs to Tracabit zero-cookie tracking in under 15 minutes.
GA4's 45KB+ tag, its cookie consent requirement, and its locked-in dashboard have pushed a lot of teams to look for a leaner alternative. The migration is easier than it looks: Tracabit uses the same mental model — events, sessions, and daily metrics — without the tracking baggage.
Start by adding the Tracabit script tag to your site alongside GA4, and let both run for a day or two. Map your GA4 custom events to snake_case Tracabit events: gtm.click → button_click, sign_up → sign_up_complete. Standard GA4 events like page_view, login, and purchase map 1:1 to Tracabit's GA4-style helpers, so your analytics layer keeps working while your data pipeline changes underneath.
Next, replace GA4's measurement IDs with Tracabit's per-project API keys in any server-side reporting. Server events use the same POST /analytics endpoint with a Bearer token, so your backend integration stays a small diff. Use the metrics API to rebuild the dashboards your team actually uses — the response shape is documented and stable.
Once you've validated parity on your top five reports, remove the GA4 tag. Your page gets lighter, your consent banner becomes unnecessary for analytics, and your data starts flowing into a pipeline you control.
Tracabit records traffic, events, crashes and web vitals with one script tag, and lets your coding agent read them over MCP.
